The Palm Garden
The Palm Garden, located within the Educandato Statale Maria Adelaide, is a tranquil and beautiful space, transformed from a vegetable garden into a lush garden with a rose-covered pergola and a palm-lined path. It houses valuable botanical species and features sports fields for basketball and volleyball, fostering physical activities and social interaction among students. The garden also provides access to historical sites such as the catacombs and refectories, enriching the daily life of the educational community.
The Palm Garden
The Palm Garden is a place of beauty and peace inside the Educandato Statale “Maria Adelaide”
where history and nature come together. In the past, this was a vegetable garden curated by
Salesiani nuns. Through the years, it became a garden with a variety of different plants and trees.
The garden was smoothed out and beautiful roses were planted in a small area of the garden. Small
trees were planted and palm trees were lined up creating a path so it could provide shade and fresh
air.
Today, the Palm Garden is also interesting from a botanical point of view. There are some unique
species such as the Ligustrum ovalifolium, the Duranta plumieri, the Yucca Elephantipes and the
majestic Phoenix Canariensis e Washingtonia. Not only do these plants enrich the garden but they
also create a welcoming atmosphere.
This garden is not only a place where you can relax but it also gives you the opportunity to play
sports. Today, you can see that there is a basketball and a volleyball court in the garden where
students can practice sports and participate in tournaments. These spaces have become a place
where students can share their love for sports and be in contact with nature at the same time.
From the garden, it is possible to visit other historical places like the catacombs and the dining hall
of the Educandato. From the Palm Garden there is also the entrance to the modern canteen that is
used by the students today.
The Palm Garden is more than just an ordinary garden. It is a place where nature intertwines with
the history and the daily life of the Educandato.
